“Remember, if you ever need a helping hand– you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.” ~Audrey Hepburn
Tis’ the season to be thankful for life and revaluate what is important. After enduring sweat, pain and tears conquering the feat of my life-The 2011 LA Marathon, I swore once was enough!
Well, many of you will probably think I have lost my marbles knowing what I went through in 2011! However; my decision to take on the 2012 LA Marathon comes from a place of great honor. With this in mind; I announce today that I will once more endure the same sweat, pain and tears to run the upcoming LA Marathon on March 18th, 2012.
There are many platforms of which I’ve considered for dedication of my run, but nothing hits closer to home than the platform of Cancer and the fight against it. This year I dedicate my run in honor of those who have been taken from us; and those who are fighting this personal battle right now. Someone very close to me fights this battle today; my dear friend Amanda has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Amanda is a source of endless strength, positive energy, and constant giving to others. It is with this in mind that I set my mind, body and spirit to train for this grueling Marathon. It is with this same conviction that I keep my focus firmly on healing in and for her life; her strength drawn from loved ones who surround her, all the while maintaining positive energy and the drive to beat this illness. The mental and physical strength held by Amanda to fight this battle, undergo treatment and its brutal affects is beyond measure and simply incomprehensible…a true testament to what one is capable of with strength, desire and willpower!
It is with this that I commit the next 18 weeks to mental and physical training; as well as collective fundraising to support Amanda on her road to recovery. I humbly ask for your kind consideration of monetary donation in support of my efforts and heartfelt dedication to this commitment. With your donation you will assist Amanda in her treatment which requires bi-weekly travel to Chicago, health and nutrition, loss of work, as well as extend support to her family for giving all they have during this fight. I am deeply grateful and thank you in advance for your love, positive energy and donations!
For your convenience I have set up a PayPal Account to receive any donations that will go to Amanda. I truly understand that these are tough financial times for so many of us; however I urge you to consider any gift you are moved to make even if the amount is $1! There is no amount that is too small! By helping one person, together; we can change the lives of many!
Forever grateful,
Kimberly Rosenberg
